Get caught up with MC Shan
New York native MC Shan is best known for his track “The Bridge”. This track has been sampled so many times that MC Shan is actually said to be the most parodied Hip Hop artist.
He was also part of the group Juice Crew. This crew boasted some big names including: Big Daddy Kane, Masta Ace and the late Biz Markie (to name a few).
One of the best samples that I have heard was done by Nejma Nefertiti. Check out her artist profile here on Nevernaire.
MC Shan – The Music
The track “Down by Law” has to be my favorite. You can hear the groups that he influenced with this track. I picture the Beastie Boys sitting at MCA’s family home in Rockport, MA (I grew up in the next town over) listening to MC Shan and subconsciously developing their style.
Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the Beastie Boys and as they say, mockery is the sincerest form of flattery. But, you can definitely see the similarities. Especially in this track.
Listening to the track “He cuts so fresh” really brings me back to the days when I was obsessed with movies like “Breakin'”.
It makes me miss the days when I would go to house parties in the rich houses in Gloucester and we would have a DJ and the dudes would be breakdancing. Of course, thanks to Ecstacy, these memories are pretty foggy.
So, what’s up with MC Shan now?
He’s still involved in the scene and dropping new tracks. He is very active on Instagram. He often posts videos that are inspirational or motivational and likes to share moments of his private life with his fans.
Although I haven’t had the pleasure of interviewing him (yet), I can tell from his social media that he is a pretty laid back dude.
Fun fact… according to Dating Celebs website, MC Shan is single.
From what I see, MC Shan is living the good life. He’s very family oriented. He’s still involved in the Hip hop community and he is still adored by thousands of fans.
