I had the opportunity to ask Rah Digga a few questions and she took time off during her tour to answer them, because she is SUPER rad!

Rah Digga | The Interview

Crystal: So, we know you’re a rapper and an actress. But I bet most people don’t know that you studied Electrical Engineering in college. What were you planning to do with your degree, if your rap career hadn’t blown up?

Rah Digga: Had I not left school to pursue a music career I would probably be working for Nasa building rockets. Since childhood I was always fascinated with outer space and would watch all the shuttle launches. I was devastated when the Challenger exploded and decided I was too scared to be an astronaut but rather wanted to be the person to build the rockets and make sure something like that never happened again.

Crystal: You’re a bad ass female rapper and one of a select few that doesn’t write solely about money and the lady bits. What do you attribute to your ability to write relevant rhymes?

Rah Digga: Being a lone female in two all male crews made me focus more on being competitive against the men in rap rather than the women. It definitely adds to the intensity of the rhyme-writing. It became more about out-manning the men as opposed to out-girling the women.

Crystal: Thirteen Ghosts happens to be one of my favorite horror movies. The graphics in that movie were ahead of their time and the ghosts were positively horrifying. Did you have any nightmares or anxiety when you were filming?

Rah Digga: Not at all lol. Most of the time the ghosts weren’t present so we had to be fake scared. Also it was a grueling process for those actors, like hours upon hours of prosthetics. Watching the process sort of took away from the scariness. It wasn’t until I watched the movie in its entirety at the premiere that I grasped how scary the movie really is.
