Catch up with The Pharcyde

Oh man, listening to The Pharcyde for about an hour now and the nostalgia is intense. Labcabincalifornia came out when I was in 7th grade. I remember I had it on cassette! I used to walk to school bumping that album on my walkman. Crazy.

The Pharcyde

The Pharcyde is a Hip hop group that formed in 1989. The original members were Imani, SlimKid3, Bootie Brown and FatLip. J Dilla was also a part of the group.

The Pharcyde are more of an Alternative Hip hop group. Their music is just different and their sound is unmistakable.

The Pharcyde’s music

This video is so iconic. For me this video represents a part of my life. I was so into Pharcyde. They were just so dope and eccentric. Right up my alley.

“Drop” has to be my favorite track by them, but they have so many great tracks. They are most famous for “Passing me by” and “Runnin”

The melody is what gets you. They are so harmonious and the way that they vibe together is really what makes them so successful. Their music has real lyrics that tell a story and their beats are a little odd, a little special, but mostly just perfect.

So, what’s up with The Pharcyde now?

These guys are still chilling together. They still perform and that’s pretty dope. There aren’t any dates coming up any time soon, but that could be a Covid thing.

Check out their show “Deep Soul”.

It’s so great to see these dudes still rockin together.

I mean, they’re pretty easy on the eyes too…

What’s next?

Be on the look out for FatLip’s new album “Still Sleeping”. The group is said to be featuring on the album together!

And be sure to checkout “Welcome to Nowhere” featuring Bootie Brown and Del the Funky Homosapien – a match made in Heaven, if I do say so myself.
