Lock Down 2020

On tonight’s episode of Crystallized Beats podcast, I was joined by Deep of 2 Hungry Bros and we had a discussion about life under lock down. It’s on everyone’s minds, we are all going through it. We should talk about it.

Lock down has affected our lives in so many ways. it’s not exactly anything that any of us are used to… even if you’ve been locked down before. It’s not something that feels natural. I know I have found myself in a rut a couple of times already. I was FIRED from my job two weeks ago, along with TWENTY FIVE other people that were long standing, committed employees. To cut costs during this pandemic. That would be all fine and good I suppose, if it wasn’t FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE to get through to unemployment.

LIFE DURING QUARANTINE

Anyway, now that i got that shit off my chest… i actually have been thriving in quarantine, for the most part. i used to spend about four to six hours a day on the blog and promo. Since i lost my job, I have been spending about twelve to fourteen hours a day on Nevernaire Stomping Ground business. I launched the podcast on March, 11th and I have been doing at least one article and one episode a day since. The podcast hit over 1100 downloads in the first month of launch! I spend the rest of my time researching, promoting and basically just doing all the behind the scenes grunt work.

Deep on the other hand, has taken this time to get quality time with his family and his music. He has been playing around with the beats, but he’s not specifically working on anything. However, he has been performing on Instagram Live. Which a lot of people have started doing since lock down began and everyone’s shows were cancelled. He thinks that IG Live might be jumping on the band wagon. i think it’s brilliant and not enough people ARE doing it.

Then, there’s Twitch. Deep has been playing around with Twitch and it sounds like he prefers it. Which makes sense. Instagram, being owned now by Facebook, hates to see anyone getting away with shit that they should be paying Facebook for, so naturally they have cut the online time to twenty minutes and they are monitoring heavily. Also, they’re giving DJs a hard time about Copyright infringement. Which it seems, Twitch is not doing. So, maybe choose Twitch.

NOW WHAT?….

Ok, so most of us, well some of us are listening to the governement and staying in our homes. Now what? What the hell do we do now? Wait? For how long? I live in Florida. There are only 434 confirmed cases of Covid 19 in my entire county. So, is the quarantine/ lock down going to be based on the state of your well… state?

I guess as long as the WIFI is working, I really don’t have too much to really bitch about. I would LOVE to be able to go out and get another job, but selling cars is not exactly a “necessary employee” type thing right now.

THE PLAN

I’m going to take this time and focus on my business. Which is creating these platforms for Indie artists to get the recognition and credit that they deserve and to occasionally rant at you about Facebook. Because I fucking hate Facebook… Shrug.

I’m going to continue trying to get funds so that I can let Nevernaire and Crystallized beats continue to grow at the EXPONENTIAL rate that they are growing at, and hire some help, without charging you guys for the promo.

And, I’m going to encourage you guys to use this time WISELY!

Take this time to work on your music, or your writing, or whatever your dream is… don’t sit around and rot your brain watching TV! Read a book, write a comic, talk to your loved ones, meditate, cook meals together, do weird ritualistic stuff with all the damn toilet paper you bought… just don’t waste it! When will you have this time to yourself again?
