The year 2010 was a BIG year in Hip Hop. With New releases from several Rap All stars, break out debut albums and releases from the pioneers… There was something for everyone.
Here is a list of my top 5 Rap albums of 2010 (in no particular order)
Kanye West | “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy”
This album boasts a ton of amazing tracks. It might not be Ye’s best album, but it definitely belongs on a Top list from 2010. You gotta give it to him, he’s kind of crazy but his music is (was?) dope.
The best track on this album is “Monster”
Kid Cudi | “Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager”
I am a major fan of Kid Cudi. I love all his stuff and I was waiting for this album to drop. Kudi used to love to keep a low profile. You definitely see a lot more about him in Hip hop news these days.
The best track on this album is “Mr. Rager” (of course!)
Eminem | Recovery
Again, this is not Eminem’s best album either, but this is a great album nonetheless. Just the success of “Love the way you lie” alone was a money making machine. The rest of the album almost pales in comparison, except for one track…
The best track on this album is “No Love”
Gucci Mane | “The Appeal: Georgia’s Most Wanted”
I can’t help it, I love that hardcore vibe that Gucci represents. He’s up there on my list of hardcore rappers with Onyx and ASAP Ferg (who I really enjoy 🙂 )
The best track on this album is “Trap Talk”
NOW, LAST BUT NOT LEAST…
Rick Ross | “Teflon Don”
This album was a surprise. I was not expecting to like it as much as I did. It was a different sound from Rick Ross that I hadn’t heard before. Much more of an R&B vibe than anything else I knew from him.
The best track on this album is “Live Fast, Die Young”
By the way, you should definitely check out “The Perfect Day to Boss Up: A Hustler’s Guide to Building Your Empire”. It’s a great read.
