The Jubalaires – Noah – 1940’s rap
The Jubalaires were an American Gospel group. They were active from the 1930’s to the 1950’s. They topped the charts with their hit song “Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition”. Then, they began to change up their style to a more rhythmic sound with rhyming verses. Later, this sound would evolve into what is now know as rap.
Now, go ahead and check this out! This is a video of the Jubilaires in the 1940’s. This might just be the first rap video. The video features their song “Noah.”
Not only is this a kick ass video, it’s a huge part of Hip hop history!
